I have
been teaching since January 1995. I began my teaching career,
while
still working full time as an attorney, by teaching a class in
research,
writing, literature, and speech to eighth graders at the private school
my daughters were attending. I discovered that I really enjoyed working
with children and decided after several years to change my full time
job
to teaching. I expanded what I had been teaching to eighth graders, to
include
third through eighth grade, adapting the course for each age group.
Once
I decided to change careers, I got my CLAD multiple subject teaching
credential. My undergraduate degrees are from the University of California at Berkeley in Anthropology and Psychology. I continued my graduate education at U.C. Berkeley and received concurrent degrees in law (Juris Doctor) and public health (Masters in Public Health). I practiced law in San Francisco for a number of years before working as a legal writer and editor at Continuing Education of the Bar (University of California, Office of the President). I worked there for several years and then worked for a year at a dot.com company helping to prepare an employment law library for the Internet. I started teaching in Catholic Schools in 2001 beginning at St. Catherine School in Martinez. I started teaching at St. David in 2006. I have been married for many years to my husband Matt. We have two daughters (Jessica and Megan) currently in college. Both are graduates of Carondelet High School. I am a decorative painter and have been involved in all kinds of arts and crafts over the years, including paper crafting, scrapbooking, and sewing. I bring my love of art to activities for my students. |
